The roots of our vineyard: from family heritage to modern Champagne

The Dechelle family story: tradition, modernity and passion

The story of the Dechelle family began in the 1980s, when Philippe inherited virgin land with no vines from his parents. This monumental challenge didn't faze Philippe, who decided to plant his first vines and make his own champagnes. At first, he joined a cooperative winery, but his independent spirit soon prompted him to leave this framework and set up his own winery.

In the 2000s, the estate took on a new dimension with the construction of a larger cellar on a more spacious site. This new space, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabled Philippe to create new cuvées and invest in modern equipment to guarantee the quality of his wines. This major investment marks the beginning of a new era for Maison Dechelle, combining tradition and innovation.

Philippe's approach is always guided by respect for nature, with a vinification process that favors minimal use of sulfur. The fundamental principle remains "working with nature, not against it", to create authentic champagnes that respect the environment.

Today, his children Clara and Vincent take over from him. Clara, having worked abroad for several years, has acquired solid experience in all aspects of wine, including vinification. Vincent, a graduate in viticulture and oenology from the Avize school, brings his technical expertise to the business. Together, they continue the family tradition, while bringing their modern, environmentally-friendly vision to the table.

Today, each cuvée is the result of an alchemy between tradition and innovation, with a constant respect for the terroir and an unfailing commitment to preserving the environment.
