Médaille Or et deux cuvées récompensées : Gilbert & Gaillard 2022

Gold medal and two cuvées recognised: Gilbert & Gaillard 2022

Gilbert & Gaillard doesn't hand out medals lightly. Every wine is tasted blind, scored by a professional jury, with no knowledge of who made it. What matters is what's in the glass.

In 2022, two of our cuvées made the cut.

Blanc de Noirs, gold medal, 87/100

Golden yellow robe. A very open nose of jammy fruits and dried vegetals. The same register on the palate, well balanced, with a frank character and a certain rustic quality. A food wine that will shine alongside sweetbreads or similar.

What this result says: a champagne with character, substance, and no hesitation at the table. Not an aperitif wine. A wine that holds its ground against a serious dish.

Cuvée Nude Brut Nature, 90/100

Clear golden robe. A delicate nose combining white fruits and toasted notes. On the palate, a pleasant texture, creamy effervescence, and the same open, refined aromas, finishing with an elegant saline touch.

90 points for a Brut Nature is a particular kind of recognition. This style, with no added sugar and no correction, is the hardest to get right. There is nothing to compensate for what isn't there. What the jury noted was the wine's natural balance, its texture, and that saline finish that speaks directly to the Vallée de la Marne terroir.

What a double selection means

Two cuvées retained in the same year by the same jury, across two very different styles. Not luck on one bottle. A way of working that shows up consistently across the range.

For a ten-hectare estate that vinifies everything in-house, that's exactly the kind of recognition that means something.
